This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the HQ Finance as a Financial Controller with a leading Logistics firm. HQ Finance is the focal point for management reporting, external reporting, financial information and forecasting and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the HQ Finance Team, you will be active involved in driving quality reporting and support cross functions teams through proactiveness and effective communication.

Overview

  • Actively drive the future strategic direction through sparring with management and internal stakeholders.
  • Accountable for timely and high quality accounting, financial reporting, analysis and metrics to key stakeholders, driving one set of numbers across all financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance in accounting, tax, audit and legal regulatory boards.
  • Accountable for timely and high quality accounting, financial reporting, analysis and metrics to key stakeholders – Own and provide financial information and expertise to inform and challenge the organizational strategy.
  • Involve in business performance, continuous productivity improvements and standardization across the organizational area.
  • Provide solutions to support business decisions, investment plans and annual budget/forecasting process.
  • Foster strong relationships with the business by establishing a customer service culture.
  • Accountable for the analysis and interpretation of financial information to produce forecasts of business, industry and economic conditions.
  • Coach the organization to increase financial awareness in their approach to business decisions.
  • Review accounting standards applicable and suggest improvements or changes in treatment for compliance.
  • Coordinate and manage audit processes with internal and external auditors.
  • Proactively ensures that nothing falls between chairs by ensuring coordination between GSC, internal teams (such as HR, Region Tax, etc.), and 3rd parties (such as pay-roll provider, Auditors, Tax provider, etc.).
  • Manages risk exposure of the outsourced finance tasks to 3rd party consultants towards the company.
  • Be involved in preparation and review of local statutory reporting and government surveys.
  • Ensure the reporting, documentations and tax declarations are compliant with local legal and tax laws and timely filing.
  • Drive tax ownership across 16 countries and ensure to get support from the Regional Tax Managers in proactively managing any potential risks and exposures.
  • Identify gaps in different tax treatments within countries across Liners from HQ perspective.
  • Represent the company in meetings with the tax authority, supported as required by the Regional Tax Manager and/or Centre Tax.

Legal & Advisory

  • Liaises with other organisations, industry and regulatory authorities as needed to form advisory.
  • Review and ensure legal sign-off of templates (e.g.: various advisories to customers / vendors) and contracts.
  • Ensure and potentially provide contractual templates are prudent and legal compliant (e.g.: SLAs).
  • Ensure POA, board resolutions and ad-hoc legal documentation from countries and local statutory.
  • Ensure transfer pricing documentation is maintained and reviewed regularly in compliance with local regulatory.

The Person

We are looking for a professional individual who can challenge the status quo at all levels of the organization.

  • M.Sc in Finance/Accounting, or the like, graduating in top of the class.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Experience from working within the shipping and logistics industry, preferably with experience and insight from country/cluster organizations as well as regional geographical coverage of Sealand Asia.
  • Experience in Asia Pacific Countries with exposure in tax will be a plus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills being able to work with both management and employees in a large organization.
  • Self-starter with a high motivation level to take on new tasks and ensure timely and successful execution.
